Ice Fishing Game Review

Ice Fishing is a next-generation speed live show game from Evolution Gaming, officially unveiled at the ICE 2025 expo in Barcelona back in January. The debut generated massive buzz across the online casino community, instantly making it the most anticipated Evolution release of the year. After months of eager anticipation, the official launch arrived on 6th August, and the game quickly spread across hundreds of Evolution-powered casino platforms worldwide.

What makes Ice Fishing truly unique is its hybrid format — it captures the electrifying energy of a Bonus Wheel live show while being entirely driven by RNG algorithms behind the scenes. Compare this to Dream Catcher (2018), which features a physical wheel and flapper, or Funky Time (2023) with its blend of physical and digital components. Ice Fishing takes the concept further with a fully virtual wheel, where every outcome is determined by certified RNG technology.

"We've wanted to create a speed game show for a long time, as we're seeing a growing audience that craves faster, more instantly gratifying formats. It's a trend not unlike the rising preference for TikTok-style shorts over long-form video. Ice Fishing is our take on that idea. It's fast, fun, and packed with dramatic gameplay." — Todd Haushalter, Evolution's Chief Product Officer

The 53-segment wheel is at the heart of the action, featuring:

• Leaf 1 and Leaf 2 cash reward segments
• 3 thrilling bonus game segments
• Random multipliers distributed at the start of each round for amplified winnings

Real-time live hosts guide every spin, adding that authentic live gaming atmosphere players know and love.

Bet Types & Payouts

Before placing real money wagers, it's important to understand Ice Fishing's distinct betting options:

• Leaf 1 & Leaf 2 sectors — There are 23 segments each (46 total) on the wheel. These pay even money at 1:1, with payouts potentially boosted up to 9:1 thanks to random multipliers.
• Lil' Blues — A thematic bonus bet with payouts reaching up to 999:1
• Big Oranges — A higher-stakes bonus bet paying up to 1,999:1
• Huge Reds — The most lucrative bonus bet, capable of delivering payouts of up to 4,999:1
• All Bonuses — A convenient combined wager that covers all three bonus bets simultaneously, boosting your chances of landing a bonus round

The Ice Fishing Wheel contains 4 Lil' Blues, 2 Big Oranges, and 1 Huge Reds segments. This live show rewards players who think strategically, with a wide variety of stake levels to help you tailor the perfect betting approach.

The Ice Fishing max win is 5,000x the bet, equivalent to a staggering €500,000 jackpot cap. Note that when maximum bonus bets come into play and approach this cap, the provider applies a mathematical adjustment to the winning odds — something worth keeping in mind for high-roller strategies.

Pros and Cons of Ice Fishing

Before spinning the wheel, here's a quick breakdown of what Ice Fishing does brilliantly — and where it falls slightly short:

✅ Pros:

• 🎣 Spectacular fishing-themed Live Show with stunning arctic visuals
• 🎥 Impressive blend of augmented reality and real-time live hosts
• Moderate volatility for a balanced gaming experience
• 🎲 Random multiplier boosts of up to x10 on every spin
• 🎁 3 Bonus Games with guaranteed prize outcomes
• 💰 Win potential of up to 5,000x the total bet

❌ Cons:

• Bonus bets carry slightly lower return rates compared to the base wheel segments
• High rollers placing maximum bonus bets must accept a mathematically reduced payout rate

Our Verdict on Ice Fishing

Ice Fishing delivers exactly what Evolution Gaming's CPO promised — a fast-paced, visually stunning live show experience packed with dramatic moments and big-win potential. The arctic wilderness backdrop is genuinely fresh and unlike anything we've seen in the live casino space before, and the audio-visual production quality sets a new benchmark for the genre.

"The magic lies in the anticipation, waiting to see what kind of fish players will catch and how big the outcome might be. There are little surprises and bursts of excitement woven into the entertainment experience, and we think players will enjoy uncovering them. We're genuinely excited about this format, as it opens the door to a new style of rapid game show with strong potential." — Todd Haushalter, Evolution's Chief Product Officer

While there are other unique Live Show releases on the market — such as Winterfest in Wonderland by Playtech — Ice Fishing feels like it operates on an entirely different level of innovation.

How does it stack up on win potential?

• 🏆 Money Time by Pragmatic Play leads the pack with a 40,000x max win
• Evolution's Crazy Time reaches 25,000x
• Ice Fishing caps at 5,000x — solid, though more modest by comparison

However, what Ice Fishing may lack in sheer ceiling, it more than compensates for with sophisticated bonus mechanics and an incredibly engaging show format.

The one notable drawback worth highlighting is the reduced payout rate for high-roller bonus bets, which is a mathematical consequence of the €500,000 jackpot cap. Since maximum bonus bets could theoretically exceed this limit, the provider adjusts the odds accordingly. For players not chasing the absolute maximum, however, Ice Fishing remains one of the most thrilling, innovative, and well-balanced live game shows available at online casinos today. Highly recommended! 🎣
